Solutions for low hardness silicone burrs


During the production process of silicone products, when the silicone products with lower hardness are molded, if they are not well controlled, there will be cracks at the edges, which is commonly known as burrs of silicone products. Why does the low hardness silicone products show this kind of edge phenomenon?

1. When molding low-hardness silicone products (about 30 degrees), they are easily affected by factors such as mold temperature and other undesirable phenomena such as air bubbles (wind). If the silicone products require the body color or translucent color, It is also easy to form many small white spots on the inside of the silicone product.

2. After the mold temperature is raised appropriately, the bad phenomenon of bubbles (winds) and white spots is resolved, but the edges of the silicone products begin to crack, which is the phenomenon of the silicone products bursting. In such a case, a bad cycle is formed completely. The mold temperature rises and the edges burst, and the mold temperature decreases, and bubbles (enveloping wind) and white spots appear.

3. The sharp edges of the silicone product molding mold for self-disassembly, too sharp or the presence of burrs are the causes of edge burst.

The bursting phenomenon of silicone products is easy to occur between 30 ~ 50 degrees of hardness, and it is not common for this phenomenon to exceed 50 degrees. Understand the reason for the bursting of low-hardness silicone products. When faced with this situation in production, prevent and repair in time to ensure the high quality of silicone products. The method is as follows:

1. During the production of low-hardness silica gel products, the mold temperature of the molding is appropriately reduced. If bubbles and white spots appear, then the method of prolonging the curing time is used to solve it. The molding temperature must drop sharply until the silicone product does not burst, and it cannot be thought that the mold temperature that is lowered by four or five degrees will be solved.

2. The process and frequency of exhausting silicone products in production must be controlled exactly. The exhaust frequency should be as few as possible, and the exhaust procedure should be shortened as much as possible.

3. Properly reducing the amount of vulcanizing agent added is also a way to avoid burrs.

4. The blade of the mold is too sharp, and the exhaust groove needs to be pulled more.

Low-hardness silicone products are not easy to grasp during production. We must pay attention to each process and technology to avoid errors caused by defective products.
